Jerichon 2007 - Finito

After 9:02 p.m., some of us drifted back to Bailey's, which featured a live band (local talent), for the evening. Wasn't able to get the lead singer's attention - to request some road songs for those of our contingent who had to drive to get to Oakley. Next time!

Some of our group stayed up until the wee hours, enjoying the Kansas night which included an impromptu thundershower (I was blissfully asleep by then).

Despite getting to sleep comparatively early, I missed most of the Sunday morning non-denominational worship - but not the lovely breakfast at the local VFW! Thanks to Gayle and her parents for the ride to the VFW from Jericho Field.

After breakfast, most of us returned for the closing ceremonies at Jericho Field. Lots of hugs and moist eyes, with vows to see each other at Jerichon 2008!

The final event of the weekend was a totally spontaneous "Last Man Standing" dinner at the Colonial Steakhouse (documented by Jericho247 at guardiansofjericho.org) where those of us still in Oakley gathered and shared one last meal and stories from the road. Between SpookUSN, RailroadBrat, Sarork and the others at the my end of the table, I almost asphixiated from laughter. A wonderful way to commemorate the weekend and relax before heading to our far-flung homes.

Jamie R. Bell, munificent Director of Economic Development for Logan County, provided Nightbird47 and I with transportation back to the Garden City train station (no police escort required), where we bid him and Kansas a fond farewell and our best regards for his family and community.

Looking forward to Jerichon 2008!
